Verso: On the stretcher old paper label with the 'Junta de Incautación y Protección del Patrimonio Artístico' (label of the Spanish unit that was supposed to secure art from museums during the Spanish Civil War). Dirty surface, min. old rest. frame. Regarding the exhibition history and provenance of the painting: 1858: exhibited as Murillo 'Nino San Juan Dormido' Zaragoza. Don Gabino Gasco bought the painting from Don Eduardo Aguado of Cádiz, envoy and successor of the court and (art) gallery of the first 'Conde De Maule'. 1908: Exhibition 'Exposición Retrospectiva de Arte.-1908, in Zaragoza. 30.09.1936: Expropriation during the Spanish Civil War in Sena, near Zaragoza. 1939-1940: Exhibited in the "Exposition for the Recovery" in the commodity exchange of Zaragoza. 1940: Restitution to the Gascó family, where it remains to this day. Thereafter, in a private collection in south-west Germany. Provenance: North German private collection.
