A FINE IVORY CARVED NETSUKE OF A SHISHI WITH BALL Japan, early 19th century Ivory. H. 3.8 cm. This netsuke is carved as a shishi standing on its hind legs resting its upper body on a ball, holding the ball in its four paws. The spine is strongly developed. The curling mane, beard, and tail are all finely carved. With traces of age and use, partially cracked. Literatur: This netsuke can be compared with a collection "Trumpf; 3174e" in the Linden-Museum Stuttgart.
