Description
A FINE IVORY CARVED NETSUKE OF GAMA SENNIN Japan, 18th century Ivory. H. 6.1 cm. The netsuke is carved as Gama sennin standing beside a basket, holding a strand of hair in his left hand and feeding the frog grabbing his right leg with his right hand. With traces of age and use, partially cracked. This lot contains elephant ivory and is therefore subject to CITES regulations with restrictions on imports or exports. It is a buyer's responsibility to obtain any export or import licences, certifications and any other required documentation. Certificate for intra-EU trade is issued. Provenance: From the important collection of the Chemnitz entrepreneur and manufacturer Fritz Niescher (1889-1974).
