Description
A FINE IVORY CARVED NETSUKE OF A PUPPY Japan, early 19th century Ivory. H. 3.2 cm. The netsuke is carved as a seated puppy with its body turned to the right, scratching its ear and holding an abalone shell with its forepaw, signed in a rectangular reserve "Okatomo". With traces of use, partially cracked. This lot contains elephant ivory and is therefore subject to CITES regulations with restrictions on imports or exports. It is a buyer's responsibility to obtain any export or import licences, certifications and any other required documentation. Certificate for intra-EU trade is issued. Provenance: From the important collection of the Chemnitz entrepreneur and manufacturer Fritz Niescher (1889-1974).
