Description
A FINE IVORY CARVED NETSUKE OF ASHINAGA Japan, 19th century Ivory. H. 8.7 cm. The netsuke is carved as Ashinaga holding the lotus handle in his right hand and supporting the flower with his left hand, with very detailed facial expression and body muscle lines. With traces of age and use. This lot contains elephant ivory and is therefore subject to CITES regulations with restrictions on imports or exports. It is a buyer's responsibility to obtain any export or import licences, certifications and any other required documentation. Certificate for intra-EU trade is issued. Provenance: From the important collection of the Chemnitz entrepreneur and manufacturer Fritz Niescher (1889-1974).
