A FINE IVORY CARVED NETSUKE OF RAIJIN WITH FROGS AND TURTLES Japan, 19th century Ivory. H. 4.3 cm. The rare netsuke is carved as Raijin lying on the lotus leaf, covered by frogs and turtles, signed on the back "Masamitsu". With traces of use, partially cracked, inlaid eyes partially lost. This lot contains elephant ivory and is therefore subject to CITES regulations with restrictions on imports or exports. It is a buyer's responsibility to obtain any export or import licences, certifications and any other required documentation. Certificate for intra-EU trade is issued. Provenance: From the important collection of the Chemnitz entrepreneur and manufacturer Fritz Niescher (1889-1974).
