A FINE WOOD CARVED NETSUKE OF A TIGER WITH MONKEY Japan, 19th century Wood. H. 3.2 cm. The netsuke is carved as a tiger with head turned back to the left and annoyed by the monkey on its back grabbing its tail, signed "Masanao". With traces of use, partially stained and probably restored, inlays partially missing. Provenance: From the important collection of the Chemnitz entrepreneur and manufacturer Fritz Niescher (1889-1974).
