Description
A FINE IVORY CARVED NETSUKE OF A HORSE AND FOAL Japan, 18th/19th century Ivory. H. 3.3 cm. The netsuke is carved as a horse lying with its head turned back to the left and its foal leaning against it facing the opposite way. With traces of use, partially cracked and abraded. This lot contains elephant ivory and is therefore subject to CITES regulations with restrictions on imports or exports. It is a buyer's responsibility to obtain any export or import licences, certifications and any other required documentation. Certificate for intra-EU trade is issued. Provenance: From the important collection of the Chemnitz entrepreneur and manufacturer Fritz Niescher (1889-1974).
