Description
AN IVORY CARVED NETSUKE OF A MONKEY CARRYING A MUSHROOM Japan, 18th/19th century Ivory. H. 4.9 cm. The netsuke is carved as a small monkey carrying a gigantic mushroom with a large round stem on back. With traces of use, partially cracked or chipped. This lot contains elephant ivory and is therefore subject to CITES regulations with restrictions on imports or exports. It is a buyer's responsibility to obtain any export or import licences, certifications and any other required documentation. Certificate for intra-EU trade is issued. Provenance: From the important collection of the Chemnitz entrepreneur and manufacturer Fritz Niescher (1889-1974), former collection of Y. Lee in Tokyo.
