A STAG ANTLER CARVED NETSUKE OF ABURA BOZU Japan, 19th century Antler. H. 8.7 cm. The netsuke is carved as Abura Bozu holding the oil can, who was captured by Taira no Tadamori and thought to be an oil thief. With traces of age and use. Provenance: From the important collection of the Chemnitz entrepreneur and manufacturer Fritz Niescher (1889-1974).
