AN IVORY CARVED NETSUKE OF A MONKEY WITH AN OCTOPUS Japan, 19th century Ivory. H. 8.4 cm. The netsuke is carved as a monkey fighting with an octopus, signed on the back of the octopus' head probably "carved by student of Gyokuzan". With traces of use and age, partially cracked and abraded.
