Description
AN IVORY CARVED NETSUKE OF EBISU Japan, 19th century Ivory. H. 4.6 cm. The netsuke is carved as Ebisu holding a fan in his left hand and a branch with a carp and a Uzume mask in his right, signed under the left foot "Tamamitsu". With traces of age and use, slightly chipped. This lot contains elephant ivory and is therefore subject to CITES regulations with restrictions on imports or exports. It is a buyer's responsibility to obtain any export or import licences, certifications and any other required documentation. Certificate for intra-EU trade is issued. Provenance: From the important collection of the Chemnitz entrepreneur and manufacturer Fritz Niescher (1889-1974).
