Description
AN IVORY CARVED NETSUKE OF OKAME Japan, 18th/19th century Ivory. H. 5.3 cm. The netsuke is carved as Okame in long robe holding a fan in right hand beside her face. With traces of age and use, partially cracked. This lot contains elephant ivory and is therefore subject to CITES regulations with restrictions on imports or exports. It is a buyer's responsibility to obtain any export or import licences, certifications and any other required documentation. Certificate for intra-EU trade is issued. Provenance: From the important collection of the Chemnitz entrepreneur and manufacturer Fritz Niescher (1889-1974).
