EIN HOLZGESCHNITZTES NETSUKE VON HANASAKA JIJI

A WOOD CARVED NETSUKE OF HANASAKA JIJI Japan, 19th century Wood. H. 3.5 cm. The netsuke is carved as Hanasaka Jiji seated on a tree stump with his bowl full of seeds, signed "Ryumin" on the bottom on a bone tablet. With traces of age and use, inlay partially lost. Provenance: From the important collection of the Chemnitz entrepreneur and manufacturer Fritz Niescher (1889-1974).
