Description
AN IVORY NETSUKE OF AN OCTOPUS AND AN IVORY NETSUKE OF A PUMPKIN Japan, 18th/19th century Ivory. H. 2.9-3.2 cm. Including a netsuke of a pumpkin and a netsuke of an octopus hiding in a piece of coral with two shells on it, signed "Koku", probably Kokusai. With traces of use, partially cracked or chipped. This lot contains elephant ivory and is therefore subject to CITES regulations with restrictions on imports or exports. It is a buyer's responsibility to obtain any export or import licences, certifications and any other required documentation. Certificate for intra-EU trade is issued. Provenance: From the important collection of the Chemnitz entrepreneur and manufacturer Fritz Niescher (1889-1974).
