EIN PAAR GESCHNITZTE VASEN AUS KNOCHEN

A PAIR OF BONE CARVED VASES Japan, 19th century Bone. H. ca. 43 cm (48 cm with base). Both vases are finely carved and decorated with geometric motifs and relief scenes depicting the Eight Immortals Crossing the Sea Flanking the neck are two fishes, while on either side of the body are two masks, each holding a ring. The lids are surmounted by shishi. With traces of use, partially damaged and abraded.
