Description
AN IMPORTANT IVORY CARVED NETSUKE OF A WILD DOG Japan, 18th/19th century Ivory. H. 3.3 cm. The netsuke is carved as a wild dog hunched over and holding a deer antler with forepaws, signed "Okatomo" in a rectangular reserve. With traces of age and use, partially damaged and cracked. This lot contains elephant ivory and is therefore subject to CITES regulations with restrictions on imports or exports. It is a buyer's responsibility to obtain any export or import licences, certifications and any other required documentation. Certificate for intra-EU trade is issued. Provenance: From the important collection of the Chemnitz entrepreneur and manufacturer Fritz Niescher (1889-1974).
