Description
A LARGE GILT COPPER ALLOY FIGURE OF SHAKYAMUNI Nepal, in Malla style, probably later Copper alloy. H. 39.5 cm. The seated statue of Shakyamuni Buddha shows characteristics of Malla style, which begins in the early 13th century. Shakyamuni is seated in dhyanasana with his hands bhumisparsa mudra, wearing a sanghati with beaded and incised border. The figure is modelled with broad shoulders and a narrow waist. With traces of age, partially abraded and slightly damaged. Provenance: From a France private collection.
