YAMADA JOKASAI ATTRIBUTED, A BLACK LACQUER AND INLAID FOUR-CASE INRO Japan, 18th/19th century Lacquerware. H. 7.2 cm. The inro is decorated with a cicada in takamakie on tree by partially inlaying mother-of-pearl on a roiro ground, signed on the bottom "Jokasai". With traces of use, slightly damaged. Provenance: From the important collection of the Chemnitz entrepreneur and manufacturer Fritz Niescher (1889-1974).
