Description
TWO IVORY CARVED NETSUKE OF HOTEI Japan, 18th/19th century Ivory. H. ca. 4.7 cm. Including a signed netsuke carved as Hotei carrying a pole with a karako in front and his bag hanging behind as well as another piece as Hotei standing on his bag. With traces of use, partially cracked. This lot contains elephant ivory and is therefore subject to CITES regulations with restrictions on imports or exports. It is a buyer's responsibility to obtain any export or import licences, certifications and any other required documentation. Certificate for intra-EU trade is issued. Provenance: From the important collection of the Chemnitz entrepreneur and manufacturer Fritz Niescher (1889-1974).
