'DER SCHALENTRÄGER'
Description
JOSEF HINTERSEHER 1878 Munich - 1955 ibid. 'THE BOWL CARRIER' Bronze, dark patina, on a round plinth, with glass pane, on a large wooden base. H. 58,5, w. 39, d. 26 cm, weight approx. 11,84 kg. Marked 'J. Hinterseher' on the plinth. Josef Hinterseher, born in Munich in 1878, studied at the Munich School of Arts and Crafts and became a pupil of Wilhelm von Rümann at the Academy of Fine Arts in 1892. His works were exhibited in the Glaspalast at a young age and Hinterseher was awarded the Rome Prize in 1903, which enabled him to travel to Italy. During the First World War, the German sculptor spent time in an internment camp in England and returned to Munich after the war, where he lived until his death in 1955. Fully sculpted depiction of a male nude, slightly pacing, holding a pen. Part. Loss of patina, rubbed and slightly bumped, one foot slightly rest. Literature: Cf.
