Description
GERMAN SCULPTOR Active in the 19th/20th century LARGE AUGSBURG COAT OF ARMS Bronze, cast and etched, brown patina, heart-shaped. H. 62, w. 44, 5, d. 5 cm, weight approx. 10.65 kg. After the original from the second half of the 16th century in the Zwingermuseum in Dresden. The center of the shield depicts an equestrian battle, while the upper edge shows a striking mascaron between two genii. The lower tip is decorated with an animal mask surrounded by two male figures. The surrounding rim is richly decorated with fruit and trophies of arms. The entire ornamentation was made after models by Étienne Delaune. Part. Loss of patina and rubbed. Provenance: Private collection North Rhine-Westphalia.
