KURT HERMANN HOSAEUS 1875 Eisenach - 1958 Berlin 'AFTER THE FIGHT' Bronze, dark brown patinated, on rectangular marble base (h. 3 cm). Overall h. 47, l. 50, d. 20 cm, weight approx. 21.8 kg. Inscribed 'Hosaeus' and 'Akt.-Ges. Gladenbeck Berlin' on the plinth. Full sculptural finely executed depiction of an ancient warrior watering his horse. The original cast is in the National Gallery in Berlin and was first shown at the Great Berlin Art Exhibition in 1899. Part. bumped and rubbed, min. loss of patina, base kl. bumps.
