CARL FRIEDRICH AUGUST PIPER 1856 Germany - 1914 STANDING WARRIOR Bronze, brown patina, on a naturalistic plinth. Overall h. 97, w. 19, d. 20 cm. Signed 'C.F.A. Piper' and foundry mark 'Hofbildgiesser Martin & Piltzing Berlin' on the reverse. Above a rock-like plinth a fully sculpted nude depiction of a young woman, standing on tiptoe, half-clad in animal fur, holding a drinking horn in one hand and an oak leaf in the other. Part rubbed, chipped and loss of patina, rest of the arm.
