LUIGI SERENA 1855 Montebelluna - 1911 Treviso FLOWER MARKET. 1898 Oil on canvas, mounted on cardboard. 96 x 56 cm (sight: 108 x 67 cm). Signed and dated lower right. Damaged. Frame. The present work is a variation of the "Flower Market" motif, one example of which is in the collection of the Museo Luigi Bailo in Treviso. This painting is larger and retains many of the shared elements of the background and the group of seated vendors in hats. However, unlike the version in the museum, the focus here is on a girl with flower pots, whereas in the museum piece, she is only part of a larger group of women and children.
