Literature: According to the foundation - 1938 the painting took part in an exhibition dedicated to Spitzweck in Galerie August Kleucker, Düsseldorf and was published in the gallery's catalogue. Provenance: According to the Foundation, the painting was acquired by Galerie August Kleucker, Düsseldorf, in 1936 and was previously in the Praetorius Collection (probably meaning Preetorius), Mainz.
