OHNE TITEL (NR. 23 AUS DER SERIE 'KRÄHEN KOMMEN - TITANWEISS') (2009)
Description
HELGA SCHMIDHUBER 1972 Wiesbaden - lives and works in Berlin and Bad Schwalbach UNTITLED (NO. 23 FROM THE SERIES 'CROWS COME - TITANIUM WHITE') (2009) Mixed media and felt application on canvas. Overall 270 x 380 cm, 2 parts. Verso: titled, dated and inscribed on the reverse of the frame. Provenance: Hesse corporate collection. In 2008 Helga Schmidhuber travelled to Vienna to work there. In her luggage she had the skull of a hippopotamus, on loan from a friend. This skull served as a source of inspiration for her and plays the main role in the two-part painting untitled, 2009, from the series 'Krähen kommen - Titanweiß'. The felt appliqué symbolises a festive decoration, similar to the festive harnesses that are worn by cows in the Alps when they drive down the mountain pastures. In the picture, animals curiously attend the ceremonial act. On the upper left is a springboard, on the upper right another festive decoration and in the centre the coat of arms of an unknown secret society.
