Description
TATSUZO SHIMAOKA, A BOTTLE VASE Japan, 20th century Stoneware. H. ca. 16.5 cm. The vase is decorated with nearly circular patterns on diagonal striped background in bluish-white. With slight traces of use. Tatsuzo Shimaoka (1919-2007) was a Japanese mingei potter and best known for his unique Jomon zogan style of pottery. Provenance: From a private collection in North Rhine-Westphalia, acquired in 1987 at the artist's exhibition at Lempertz.
