1/2 VIOLIN JÉROME THIBOUVILLE-LAMY AND 2 VIOLIN BOWS Mirecourt, France, around 1870 Two-piece spruce top and maple back, light brown varnish. 1/2 violin, l. 51 cm, body l. 30,5 cm. Unmarked. Comes with case, shoulder rest and rosin by Piastro. Two 1/2 violin bows, unmarked, each with round stick, mother-of-pearl eye and decorations, ebonized frog, thumb leather, (1x winding worn), new bow hair required, l. 61 and 63.5 cm, weights approx. 56g and 58g. This beautiful 1/2 violin was made by Jerome Thibouville-Lamy (1857-1968) of the renowned Mirecourt luthier workshop in the 19th century. Jerome Thibouville Lamy was one of the most respected violin makers of his time and came from a long tradition of violin makers in Mirecourt. This 1/2 violin by Jerome Thibouville Lamy is a testament to his craftsmanship and deep understanding of the needs of young musicians. Min. bumped, tuning required. Literature: Cf.
