ITALIAN MASTER VIOLIN PROBABLY RAFFAELE AND ANTONIO GAGLIANO (OR CIRCLE) Italy, 1859 Two-piece spruce top and one-piece flamed maple back, light brown varnish. 4/4 violin, l. 59.5 cm, body l. 35.5 cm. Facsimile violin label: 'Raffaele Antonio Gagliano Quondam Giovanni Napoli 1859'. A current dendrochronological examination (July 2023) by Arjan Versteeg is available and confirms that this violin dates from this period. Part rubbed and bumped, cracked back, rests under the bridge, on one f-holes and on the upper rib, top edge renewed. Expertise: Expert opinion by Johannes Jehle Ebingen master violin maker from 1971.
