VIOLIN BOW GOTTHARD SCHUSTER Bubenreuth, around 1950 Octagonal stick, gold mounting, winding, thumb leather, mother-of-pearl top plate, gold tortoiseshell frog, Parisian eye. L. 74 cm, weight approx. 62g. Violin bow marked 'Gotthard Schuster', from the model F.X. Tourte. Gotthard Schuster (1903-1987), was a renowned bow maker and was characterized by his masterly craftsmanship. Schuster's violin bows are prized for their precise workmanship, first-class materials and exceptional playing characteristics, making him a sought-after craftsman among musicians all over the world. This violin bow is listed and illustrated in Volume 2 of German Bow Makers. Good Condition, min. rubbed.
