Description
VIOLIN AFTER ANTONIO AND HIERONYMUS AMATI Probably Saxony/Bohemia, early 20th century. Two-piece spruce top and flamed maple back, dark brown varnish. 4/4 violin, l. 60 cm, body l. 36 cm. Violin label: 'Antonius & Hieronymus Fr. Amati Cremonen Andrea fil F. 1625'. With case, shoulder rest, peg soap, rosin, wolf sounding board. Old pegs, bridge, strings and soundpost present. Part rubbed and bumped, minor cracks to top, restored and overhauled 2020, new strings. Expertise: Expert opinion master violin maker H.A. Friedel Berlin, 1948.
