A VERY FINE ICON SHOWING CHRIST PANTOKRATOR WITH A JEWELLED SILVER-GILT OKLAD WITHIN ORIGINAL FITTED CASE Russian, mid 19th century (icon), Russian, Moscow, Sazikov, 1856 (oklad) Oil on wood panel with velvet backing. Overlaid with a very fine silver-gilt oklad set with amethyst and emerald cabochons. The raised border decorated with recurring foliate scrolls, the robes of the figure repoussé and engraved to imitate embroidery. Marked with city hallmark, assayer's mark, 84 standard and master's mark 'SAZIKOV' in Cyrillic. In a fitted velvet-lined case. 25.3 x 19.2 cm (without case).
