THREE ICONS FORMING A DEISIS Russian, late 18th century Tempera on wood panel. The background made of gold. Composed of three panels, Christ depicted frontal, blessing and bearing the Gospels, the Mother of God to his right and St. John to his left, both turning towards him, gazing at the viewer and holding scrolls. Painted traditionally with complimentary greens and reds, the garment folds emphasised with strong gold striations. Minimally restored. 41.6 x 34.7 cm.
