A FINE ICON SHOWING THE PROTECTING VEIL OF THE MOTHER OF GOD (POKROV) Russian, circa 1800 Tempera on wood panel with kovcheg. Finely executed in great detail on gold ground. Six family patrons represented on the border, the Guardian Angel and Sts. Cosmas and Damian among them. The reverse features a Cyrillic dedication inscription. Some wear to the borders, consistent with age. 35.3 x 30.3 cm.
