A FINE ICON SHOWING THE SMOLENSKAYA MOTHER OF GOD WITH A SILVER RIZA Russian, 17th century Tempera on wood panel with double kovcheg. Holding Christ in one hand and gesturing to him with the other, Christ blessing and clutching a small scroll, his himation with dense chrysography, patron saints standing to either side on the raised border. The riza and halo in chased silver. Minimally restored. 32 x 26.7 cm.
