A FINE ICON SHOWING THE TRANSFIGURATION OF CHRIST Russian, 2nd half 16th century Tempera on wood panel with double kovcheg. Christ in bright garments, in a three-rayed and a circular mandorla, flanked by the Prophets Elijah and Moses, the lower part showing the three disciples, Peter at the left kneeling and looking upwards, John and Jacob prostrated, against the earth colours of the mountains. The edges minimally chipped, minimally restored. 30.8 x 25.5 cm.
