A FINE DOUBLE-SIDED TABLETKA SHOWING THE THREE WOMEN AT THE EMPTY TOMB AND THREE SELECTED SAINTS Russian, 17th century Finely painted in great detail, the haloes made of gold. A finely detailed icon executed in dominant red tones. The armor of the soldiers is delicately ornamented. In the background, a hilly landscape and a cityscape frame the scene. On the reverse side, there is a full-figure depiction of Sts. Alexander Nevsky, Cyril and Paisius. The background and border stripped to gesso, minimally restored. 23.5 x 19.9 cm (with later frame).
