A LARGE AND A VERY FINE ICON SHOWING THE PROTECTING VEIL OF THE MOTHER OF GOD (POKROV) WITH A SILVER-GILT RIZA Russian, late 18th century (icon), Russian, Moscow, Ivan Leontiev Lakomin, 1792 (riza) Tempera on wood panel. The narrative episodes represented against architectural settings, the individual saints, their miniature figures rendered meticulously, mostly with reds, blues and greens with golden haloes. Overlaid with a richly chased and engraved silver-gilt riza. Marked with city hallmark, assayer's mark and master's mark 'IL' in Cyrillic. 36 x 30.8 cm.
