A LARGE SIGNED AND DATED ICON SHOWING THE ANNUNCIATION WITHIN KYOT Mount Athos, Ioasafeon school, dated 1934 Oil on wood panel. The haloes made of gold. Greek inscribed and dated '1934' lower right. 52.4 x 45.5 cm (with glazed kyot). The Ioasafeon school was the most important workshop for icon painting from the early 1900s until the 1960s. Their work had a significant influence on icon painting in Greece.
