A RARE AND LARGE ICON OF THE RAISING OF LAZARUS Greek, 18th century Tempera on wood panel. The haloes and background made of gold. Centred by the Saviour shown full length, his right hand extended in blessing towards Lazarus, depicted rising from his coffin in front of an architectural building dressed in his shroud, in the foreground the two sisters of Lazarus kneeling before Christ and a servant holding the lid of the coffin, behind the Saviour the twelve apostles and a group of inhabitants from the city of Bethany.
