AN ICON SHOWING THE MANDYLION WITH A MASSIVE SILVER-GILT OKLAD Russian, Kazan, Girsha Vasilev Kopylov, 1855 (oklad) Tempera on wood panel with kovcheg. The fine oklad repoussé and chased with scrolled flowers and strapwork, the halo adorned with pastes. Struck on the lower edge with city hallmark, assayer's mark, 84 standard and master's mark 'GK' in Cyrillic and spurious mark 'K. FABERGE' in Cyrillic. The icon painted in recent decades. 31.3 x 27.5 cm.
