Description
AN ICON OF THE OLD TESTAMENT TRINITY Russian, 16th century Tempera on wood panel with double kovcheg. Depicting the three angels seated at a table each carrying a messenger staff, the ones on the left and right resting their feet on footstools, behind them the Oak of Mamre in the centre, a mountainous landscape on the right and Abraham and Sarah's home on the left. The background and border stripped to gesso, partially restored. 30.8 x 26.2 cm.
