Christ is depicted surrounded by a red glory flanked by Moses and the Prophet Elijah. Below are disciples Peter, John, and James who have fallen to the earth in awe at the sight. This icon illustrates the event that took place on Mount Tabor as mentioned in the Gospels of Matthew. Overlaid with a silver-gilt oklad repousse with foliage. Marked with city hallmark, assayer's mark and master's mark 'AG'. Losses, restorations. 30.8 x 27 cm.
