A SMALL ICON SHOWING THE PROTECTING VEIL OF THE MOTHER OF GOD (POKROV) Russian, 19th century Tempera on wood panel with double kovcheg. Finely executed in great detail against a golden background. Eleven selected saints on the borders: Hermits and Sts. Cosmas and Damian among them. On the reverse Cyrillic dedication inscription. 21.5 x 19.2 cm.
