A SMALL ICON SHOWING THE BESYEDNAYA MOTHER OF GOD WITH SILVER BASMA Russian, late 18th century (icon), Russian, St. Petersburg, 1799 (basma) Tempera on wood panel. The haloes made of gold. The borders overlaid with a silver basma. Marked with city hallmark, assayer's mark, 84 standard and master's mark. The background stripped to gesso, partially restored. 18 x 15.2 cm.
