A VERY FINE AND LARGE ICON SHOWING THE KAZANSKAYA MOTHER OF GOD WITH A SILVER-GILT AND NIELLO RIZA Russian, circa 1830 (icon), Russian, St. Petersburg, 1839 (riza) Tempera on wood panel. Finely executed in great detail. The garments highlighted with chrysography. Four selected saints on the borders: Alexius, the Man of God, Anastasia, Eudokia and Alexandra. The silver-gilt riza engraved decorated with floral motifs. Marked with city hallmark, assayer's mark, 84 standard and master's mark 'AV'. Minor areas of retouching. 35.2 x 30.3 cm.
