Description
A PORCELAIN BUTTER DISH WITH A COVER FROM THE SERVICE OF GRAND DUKE KONSTANTIN NIKOLAEVICH Russian, St. Petersburg, Imperial Porcelain Factory, Period of Nicholas I (1825-1855), 1848-1852 Ornamentally painted, partially gilded, with the knob in the shape of a bogatyr helmet. Underglaze blue factory mark 'NI' under the crown, stamped with '.C'. Painted with the Grand Duke's monogram in Cyrillic 'WKKN' and with the imperial double-headed eagle. The ceremonial service was designed by F.G. Solntsev for the wedding of the Grand Duke and the Princess of Saxe-Altenburg, the future Grand Duchess Alexandra Iosifovna. Partially chipped. Diam. 21 cm, 11.5 cm high.
