Description
A SET OF FIVE PORCELAIN SOUP PLATES FROM THE SERVICE OF GRAND DUKE KONSTANTIN NIKOLAEVICH Russian, St. Petersburg, Imperial Porcelain Factory, Period of Nicholas I and Alexander II (1825-1855/1855-1881) Ornamentally painted, partially gilded. Underglaze blue or green factory marks 'NI' or 'AII' under the crown, partially with stamps '7' or '54', one plate with Cyrillic mark 'I. Deni', one plate with the number '72.' in gold. Painted with the Grand Duke's monogram in Cyrillic 'WKKN' and with the imperial double-headed eagle. The ceremonial service was designed by F.G. Solntsev for the wedding of the Grand Duke and the Princess of Saxe-Altenburg, the future Grand Duchess Alexandra Iosifovna. Diam. 23.9 cm.
