HALF FIGURE OF A SAINT (BUST RELIQUARY) Lower Rhenish, around 1530 Oak wood, fully plastic carved, reverse side remains of a colored setting, on pedestal base (h. 3 cm). Overall h. 41, w. 26, d. 16.5 cm, weight approx. 2.87 kg. Luchtenberg collection inventory number 'B/m 19' on verso. Full-size half-figure depiction of a female saint, with long flowing hair, wearing rich Renaissance costume with slit sleeves and necklace with pendant, hands folded in prayer. Part. bumped and dam., loss of mount, stress cracks, circular reliquary opening closed with oak wood. Provenance: Luchtenberg Foundation.
